Geneva Doctor Sentenced to Five Years in Prison
A court in Geneva has sentenced a former maternal and child health doctor to five years in prison after finding him guilty of offences involving several young patients who sought medical treatment.
According to court findings, the doctor abused his professional position while treating multiple young female patients. Authorities also examined allegations linked to an additional case involving a minor in France.
In addition to the prison sentence, the court ordered the doctor to pay a total of 180,000 Swiss francs in compensation to the victims. The ruling aims to provide financial redress for the harm suffered by those affected.
The court also imposed a permanent ban on practising medicine, preventing the individual from working as a doctor in the future.
The case has attracted significant attention in Switzerland and has renewed discussions about patient protection, professional accountability, and safeguarding measures within the healthcare system.
Swiss authorities continue to emphasize the importance of reporting misconduct and ensuring that healthcare professionals are held to the highest ethical and legal standards.
