Swiss Animation Takes Centre Stage at Annecy Festival
Switzerland is set to make a strong impression at the prestigious Annecy International Animation Film Festival, with six Swiss-connected films selected for the globally renowned event taking place from June 21 to June 27.
Several leading filmmakers from French-speaking Switzerland and Ticino will attend the festival, showcasing the country’s growing influence in the world of animation. Among them is Geneva-based director Georges Schwizgebel, widely recognized as one of Switzerland’s most celebrated animation pioneers. He will present his latest production, The Picture of Dorian Gray, to international audiences.
The festival will also feature the world premiere of Cartoon Physics, an international co-production involving France, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. Supported by Geneva-based Hélium Films, the project demonstrates Switzerland’s active role in international animation collaborations.
