Switzerland to Host Historic US-Iran Peace Agreement at Bürgenstock

Switzerland is once again taking centre stage in international diplomacy as the United States and Iran prepare to sign a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending hostilities between the two nations. The agreement is expected to be signed on Friday at the renowned Bürgenstock mountain resort in central Switzerland.

The Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed the location following reports from Swiss media. Swiss authorities have been working closely with representatives from the United States, Iran, Pakistan, and Qatar to facilitate the diplomatic process and ensure the successful arrival of international delegations.

According to Swiss officials, Bürgenstock was proposed as the venue by mediators from Pakistan and Qatar, with support from both the United States and Iran. Switzerland’s role has focused on providing a neutral environment and the necessary diplomatic conditions for high-level negotiations.

The choice of Bürgenstock further strengthens Switzerland’s reputation as a global hub for peace talks and conflict resolution. The same location previously hosted the Ukraine Peace Summit in 2024, attracting world leaders and international organizations.

Diplomatic sources indicate that the signing ceremony will be followed by an additional round of negotiations between the United States and Iran. These discussions are expected to begin immediately after the framework agreement is signed and could continue for up to 60 days.
