A Chinese national has been charged under wildlife trafficking laws in Kenya after attempting to smuggle over 2,000 queen garden ants.

The suspect was intercepted at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport while trying to illegally transport the ants out of the country. Authorities confirmed that this attempt violated Kenya’s strict wildlife protection regulations.

Wildlife officials emphasized that even small species such as ants play a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance, and illegal trade can have severe environmental impacts. The suspect now faces legal action under the country’s wildlife trafficking laws.
