A single egg now sells for <strong>LKR 40<\/strong>, while <strong>one kilogram of chicken with skin costs over LKR 100<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Small eggs <strong>sell at LKR 37<\/strong>, medium eggs at <strong>LKR 39<\/strong>, and large red eggs <strong>reach LKR 41<\/strong> per egg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ajith H. Gunasekara, President of the <strong>Sri Lanka Livestock Producers Association<\/strong>, <strong>explained<\/strong> that higher fuel and gas costs <strong>have severely affected poultry farming<\/strong>. Farmers <strong>use gas to keep chicks warm<\/strong>, but rising fuel prices <strong>have disrupted this process<\/strong>, increasing operational costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chicken with skin <strong>now sells at LKR 1,200 to LKR 1,250 per kilogram<\/strong> in the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The daily supply <strong>stands at around 700 metric tons<\/strong>, while monthly demand <strong>reaches approximately 22,000 metric tons<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rising diesel prices <strong>have reduced the number of fishing boats<\/strong>, lowering fish supply.
